Background

Kristin Lyman is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at Northwestern University and is training to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Kristin enters the counseling field with nearly a decade of experience in the corporate space, where she worked at a large consulting firm leading complex, high-pressure transformation initiatives. Kristin is excited to transition into her role as a clinician, as making this significant change in her own life has affirmed the importance of values-aligned living and her interest in supporting others in that process.

Kristin is pursuing licensure with a passion for helping individuals develop healthy coping strategies, explore their identities, and build meaningful relationships. She uses a strengths-based, collaborative approach that honors life’s challenges as part of the shared human experience. Kristin brings warmth, curiosity, and an appreciation for humor into the therapeutic space, believing that connection and levity can coexist with meaningful work. Kristin’s areas of clinical interest include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, managing work-related stress and balance, and women’s issues. Kristin works closely under Alison Thayer’s clinical supervision at Beyond The Couch.
