How We Are Different
Beyond The Couch strives to create a safe and open, yet gently challenging place of support. As Alison’s style has evolved over the years, clients often say, “she isn’t like many therapists; she doesn’t just listen and nod her head”. While this may not work for everyone, those that are seeking an active, direct approach are often able to access insights, deeper understandings, and shifts into a more authentic, gratifying way of living.
How This Works
At the onset of therapy, Clients will participate in an in-depth assessment process to identify key presenting issues and what they hope to accomplish through therapy. The assessment process typically takes 2-3 sessions and is not what most think of as conventional therapy sessions. Once the assessment process is complete, treatment goals will be established and recommendations will be made for the frequency of our work. Clients will be asked to commit to a consistent schedule for their sessions, as this is heavily related to positive therapy outcomes.
