Mission
As a therapy and wellness collective, our mission is twofold: to empower clients with evidence-based, practical tools that extend the impact of therapy into everyday life; and to support fellow therapists and providers through expert consultation, collaboration, and community.
Complimentary Phone Consultation
It can be complicated to find the right therapist, but it is often critical to the success of your experience to have a “good fit”. To help with that, a complimentary 10 minute phone consultation will be offered prior to your first session. This can be an opportunity for you to ask questions about therapeutic style or what to expect in your initial sessions. We will also go over logistics so you can feel prepared, contact me today.
Individual Therapy
Beyond The Couch offers multiple, evidence-based individual therapy modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, psychodynamic principles, and Solution-focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Additionally, Alison is a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional, which means that she is trained to consider alternative, holistic ways to improving mental health. While a number of clients have utilized psychotropic medications and continue to do so with success, we will also explore how to improve your symptoms through nutrition, vitamins and supplements, and exercise/movement. Based on your presenting issues, these methods will be integrated to tailor sessions to your unique needs.
Specialties include:
– Anxiety disorders
– Mood disorders
– Adult ADHD
– Relationship issues, including intimate relationships, friendships, family dynamics and professional relationships
– Occupational issues, including work/life balance

Couples Therapy
Couples therapy is an opportunity to hit the reset button and look at your relationship with new perspectives. With honest clarity, partners can sometimes realize that the assumptions, behaviors and dynamics occurring are harming their relationship. A safe and open space will be offered where you can take the time to invest in your relationship with each other, listen and begin to understand the other’s point of view. Therapeutic tools and resources will be provided to help partners increase understanding, foster healthier communication, and ultimately build a more fulfilling relationship. Alison is trained in Gottman Method- Level 1 and incorporates this method into couples sessions.
Clinical Supervision & Consultation
Since 2000, Alison has been offering clinical supervision and consultation to student interns, those working towards licensure and fully licensed therapists. She has served as a clinical leader in multiple organizations, which has preparing her to offer supervision and support to a wide range of clinicians. Similar to Alison’s style with clients, she offers a direct, yet supportive role that encourages growth and success. Alison has special interest in supporting those that are looking to move into private practice and will offer resources to support this within consultation sessions, contact me today.
As your therapist or consultant, Alison’s role is to raise awareness of your own strengths and weaknesses, provide actionable suggestions for growth, and guide you on your journey towards positive changes and a healthier mindset. Together, we will work to better understand life’s challenges and day-to-day obstacles that detract from your life and focus. We will begin to identify and practice things that will strive to make you stronger and better.
